Report: Manchester City intent on signing a striker with Harry Kane remaining in their sights

Manchester City are still keen on signing a new striker this summer with Harry Kane still on their radar, according to ESPN.

The report claims that the current Premier League champions are keen on both Kane and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

City lost Sergio Aguero last summer after the Argentine left the Etihad Stadium at the end of his contract to join Barcelona and did not bring in a replacement ahead of the current campaign.

Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester with Pep Guardiola admitting that they could not agree a deal for the England captain because Tottenham were not prepared to negotiate a potential deal (Guardian).

The Spurs man later took to Twitter to confirm that he was staying in North London during the summer window and was focused on helping the team achieve success.

Kane will still have two years left on his deal come the end of the season and the power still rests with Daniel Levy over the forward’s future.

The club need to show ambition to keep the marksman at the club and back Antonio Conte in the current window to secure a return to the Champions League.
