Report: Manchester City move is ‘more likely’ for attacker despite Spurs interest

RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo is very much on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, but Manchester City is thought to be the ‘more likely’ destination for the Spaniard this summer.

With Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou keen to upgrade his squad in various areas at the end of this season, it’s no surprise the Lilywhites have been linked with a talent such as Dani Olmo.

At present, another RB Leipzig player, Timo Werner, is providing attacking returns and creativity at Spurs. Whether his stay in North London will become a permanent one remains to be seen.

However, Tottenham also have a firm interest in Spanish attacking midfielder, Olmo. According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are joined by a number of clubs including Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Real Madrid in admiring Olmo, who has a release clause of £52m active this summer.

Will Spurs win the race for Dani Olmo?

Now, according to Bild, the race for Olmo could be down to Spurs and City, with Pep Guardiola’s side thought to have a slight advantage over their Premier League rivals.

While Barcelona are known to be keen, it is said the La Liga outfit could not afford Olmo. Instead, a move to one of the “rich Premier League clubs” is expected to be more viable.

At the moment, City are believed to be the “hottest lead,” with Guardiola’s pull and the club’s financial strength making them “more likely” to succeed in lining up the acquisition.

However, Tottenham “have their eye on” Olmo, too, and have a chance of winning the transfer battle if they can persuade the player to join them instead.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would really like us to sign Dani Olmo, and if it comes down to a straight discussion about the project and the kind of role we can offer him, I do fancy us to beat City there. They may have more chances of silverware, but we all know Postecoglou has a knack for persuading players to join his team.
