Report: Manchester United accept defeat in attempt to lure Pochettino

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was rumoured to be Manchester United’s preferred choice to take over as their manager from next season.

The Red Devils appointed former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager until the end of the season following their decision to part company with Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer has impressed since his appointment guiding United to eight consecutive wins and putting them back in contention for a top four spot in the Premier League.

Calls to appoint the Norwegian on a permanent basis have grown louder in recent weeks due to how well United are performing at the moment.

According to a report in the Independent, the United board are seriously considering giving the job to Solskjaer on a permanent basis after it has become increasingly clear that Pochettino is committed to the project at Spurs.

The report claims that the Argentine is keen to lead Tottenham into their new stadium and that he has been promised a big transfer kitty once Spurs complete the move.

It is also claimed that Pochettino has revealed to a confidant that he will only consider leaving the club if Spurs decide to sell their best players.

This will certainly come as music to the ears of Spurs fans as retaining Pochettino is vital for the club to continue growing.
