Report: Manchester United are interested in signing former Tottenham player

Manchester United’s summer transfer plans could provide a double blow to Tottenham Hotspur, as they plan to reignite their interest in both Harry Kane and Frenkie de Jong.

Tottenham hearts were broken last summer when Harry Kane left the club for Bayern Munich, but the Lilywhites fanbase was at least content with the fact that they wouldn’t have to see their all-time leading goalscorer playing for another Premier League club.

Kane has not had the best of years out in Germany however, with Bayern trailing in the Bundesliga and facing elimination from the Champions League, too.

Meanwhile, Spurs have moved on pretty quickly under Ange Postecoglou. The club are looking ahead to the summer, and their pursuit of a new midfielder could lead them towards Frenkie de Jong (Jigantes FC).

Manchester United will try again for Kane and de Jong

Both Kane and de Jong have been on the radar of Manchester United for quite some time, but the Red Devils failed to attract either player over the summer. However, it is now thought they could try once more at the end of this season.

That’s according to a report from Football Transfers, who claim Manchester United “remain very keen” on the Bayern and Barca stars, and they are ready to splash the cash to get their targets this time.

It is thought “securing a Champions League spot could be a persuasive factor” in the hunt for such players. Kane is still “well-liked” by those at the club and a move would be accelerated if the player was to show “willingness” to join.

With Bayern expected to “cash in” on players this summer, United could strike and bring Kane back to England in a surprise move.

When it comes to de Jong, it is believed United would not “waste time” chasing him like they did last summer, unless they are given any genuine “positive indications” that he is ready to make the move.

Spurs Web Opinion

I highly doubt Kane would be ready to give up on his German adventure so soon, especially to join another Premier League side. As for de Jong, I can’t see him leaving Barcelona, not for United or for Spurs.
