Report: Manchester United could shift attention to Spurs star if they fail to land 20-year-old

Football.London have revealed that Manchester United could turn their attention to trying to land Harry Kane if they fail to secure the signing of Jadon Sancho this summer.

Sancho was said to be United’s main transfer target this summer (MEN) but Borussia Dortmund have insisted that the winger will stay put at the Westenfalenstadium after the Red Devils failed to complete the deal before the August 10 deadline which the German club had set (Times).

Football.London claim that United decided to move for Sancho with the idea of the winger being able to fit in interchangeably with Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in their front three but it is alleged that the club have always viewed Kane as the perfect solution.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s are said to consider the England captain as the quintessential Manchester United striker and it is alleged that he was the man the club had earmarked to replace Romelu Lukaku last summer.

The report claims that Dortmund’s tough stance on Sancho could tempt United to try again for Kane this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Linking United with a move for Kane as an alternative to Sancho is nothing but lazy journalism in my opinion. While it is true that the Red Devils have always admired the Spurs striker, there is no chance that they can strike a deal with Levy if they are having trouble meeting Dortmund’s £108m price tag for Sancho. The Spurs chairman is not going to allow Kane to leave for anything below £200m with four years to run on his contract.
