Tottenham are expected to lose out on summer transfer target, Gaetano Castrovilli, with Manchester United emerging as the favourites to sign him (TodosFichajes).

TuttoMercatoWeb reported recently that Spurs and Borussia Dortmund were both interested in the midfielder.

The Fiorentina man has also caught the attention of Liverpool after an impressive season in Serie A following his two-year loan to second-tier side Cremonese.

However, it is the Red Devils who have emerged as the favourites to sign the 23-year-old, according to TodosFichajes.

The report suggests that Fiorentina have already had two bids believed to be in the region of €45m, but have rejected both as they hold out for another €5m.

Castrovilli has featured heavily for the Serie A side this season with 24 appearances in the league (Transfermarkt). In those appearances, the Italian has netted on three occasions and grabbed two assists.

Spurs Web Opinion

Doing business around the £50M is almost unheard of for Spurs. Only Tanguy Ndombele has exceeded that figure in Tottenham’s history, so another in the space of a year is highly unlikely. It would be interesting to see who Manchester United would sell from their midfield if they were to bring Castrovilli in.
