Report: Manchester United enter race to sign Spurs-linked Brazilian

According to a report in France Football, Manchester United have now entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Willian this summer.

The winger’s contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer and Spurs have been established as the favourites to land him when he becomes a free agent (Mundo Deportivo).

There have been some suggestions that the 31-year-old has already agreed to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Spurs (beIN SPORTS presenter Richard Keys) but the Brazilian has denied that there is an agreement in place (Gustavo Hofman’s YouTube channel).

France Football now claims that the Red Devils are now set to challenge Spurs for the Chelsea star’s signature.

The report suggests that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side believe that Willian could add much-needed experience to their youthful attacking line and view the opportunity to sign him for nothing as a ‘windfall’ transfer.

It is revealed that the club are already in talks over with the winger’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, about bringing him to Old Trafford.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am reasonably confident that Mourinho will be keen on bringing Willian to Spurs given how highly the Tottenham boss rates the Brazilian and the relationship the pair have. While being in London and having Jose potentially gives us an advantage, United could also be an appealing option for the winger.

One would presume that Willian’s decision on who to join might be influenced by who qualifies for next season’s Champions League. Given that the result between the clash between us and United this evening might be crucial for both team’s top-four ambitions, it might also have a big impact on who the Chelsea star eventually ends up joining.
