Report: Manchester United handed injury doubt ahead of visit to Spurs

Manchester United’s Phil Jones is a doubt for their return to football against Tottenham next week, according to the Metro.

The defender has reportedly sustained a minor injury in training and therefore missed an internal friendly set up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United were set to play Stoke City on Tuesday but the game was abandoned after manager, Michael O’Neil tested positive for Covid-19 (BBC).

With the game cancelled, the United boss set up a match between his own players, although Jones was an omission.

United travel to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 19 as they both get their Premier League season back underway in a potentially pivotal clash in the race for a top-four finish.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Jones does miss the game, it is probably more of an advantage to the visitors than to Spurs. He has never really set the world alight since making the move from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 and I doubt that he would have made the starting XI anyway. I am more worried about the returns of Rashford and Pogba.
