Report: Manchester United prepare £40million offer for Spurs star

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks as emerged as one of Manchester United’s main targets when the transfer window reopens in the summer, according to reports.

The Mirror claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Winks as the type of player which he believes is a perfect fit for his requirements at Old Trafford.

It is suggested that Solskjaer has told close friends he believes he can build a new-look midfield around the Spurs academy graduate.

The report suggests Paul Pogba is likely to leave the club at the end of the season and the Norwegian has asked the club to use a portion of that money to land Winks.

Following injuries to Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko, Winks has established himself as a regular under Jose Mourinho with the report claiming that a £40million bid could be launched at the end of the campaign to test Tottenham.

It is suggested that Mourinho would not want to lose Winks, who is under contract in North London until 2024.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Winks is Spurs through and through and is playing regularly in the side, I see no reason why he would want to leave the club. Additionally, Daniel Levy will likely demand considerably more than the reported £40 million for the midfielder, who is contracted to the club till 2024.
