Report: Manchester United set to make Pogba decision for Spurs clash

According to a report by The Athletic, Paul Pogba is likely to start the game against Tottenham Hotspur on the bench.

Pogba has not been in competitive action for Manchester United since Boxing Day after the French international suffered an ankle injury.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side adapted to a new system when the midfielder was injured and have gone on to turn around their form.

January signing Bruno Fernandes has proven a big hit at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils were unbeaten in 11 matches prior to the suspension of the league.

The three-month suspension has given Pogba the time to regain his fitness and there is a lot of anticipation among United fans to see the 27-year-old playing together with Fernandes.

However, The Athletic suggests that Pogba will not start against Spurs, with Solksjaer likely to go with his tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 formation.

It is claimed that Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay are likely to start as the two pivots, with Fernandes being given the licence to roam further forward.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Jose to opt for a conservative midfield set up with both Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko starting for us, in order to shield the back four. Even if Pogba does not start for United, I expect him to come on for some minutes in the second half in order to take advantage of tired legs. So we will likely have to be wary of the Frenchman and prevent him from getting on the ball too often.
