Report: Manchester United swap deal could hand Spurs midfielder blow

Any hope which Tottenham Hotspur may have had in landing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic this summer may have taken a blow.

According to Football Italia, the Serie A side are hoping to use the Croatian as a makeweight to land Alexis Sanchez on a permanent deal.

The 31-year-old Croatian has spent this 2019/20 season out on loan at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich but has now returned to his parent club in Italy.

Perisic netted just four times in his 22 Bundesliga appearances at Bayern, however, less than a third of his game time came from the starting eleven (Transfermarkt).

According to the report, Spurs and Everton have both been linked with a move for the experienced winger but it looks like a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards for the 2018 World Cup-finalist.

Perisic currently has two years left on his deal at the San Siro but Inter have valued the former Borussia Dortmund player at just €15million.

Perisic has no doubt been a superb player, however, at Bayern, he failed to really make an impact coming off the bench. Do I see him starting for Spurs? No, so will he improve the squad as a bench player, probably not.
