Report: Mauricio Pochettino emerges as favourite for top European job this summer

According to a report from talkSPORT, former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino is now the favourite to become the next Juventus boss.

The Italian giants sacked Maurizio Sarri following their Champions League round of sixteen defeat to Lyon on away goals this week.

Despite guiding Juve to their ninth consecutive Serie A title, the season will be looked at as a failure in Turin due to the club’s inability to win the Copa Italia or get far in Europe.

The report claims that Pochettino is being lined up to replace the former Chelsea boss, with the Serie A champions already having made contact with the Argentine’s entourage.

It is revealed that the 48-year-old, who has been out of work since parting ways with Tottenham last November, is keen to get back into management.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Juventus job will appeal to Pochettino, with the former Spurs boss also said to be the favourite to replace Quique Setien in the Nou Camp hot seat if Barcelona fail to win the Champions League (Daily Mail).

They say good things come to those who wait and that is exactly how things have turned out for Pochettino. The Argentine must have been tempted to jump back into management quickly as he would have likely been bombarded with offers since he left us. However, the next natural step for him would be a club the size of Juventus or Barcelona, where he would be expected to deliver trophies. The only problem with taking the Juve job is that winning the league will not be considered a success, as Sarri found out this season.
