Report: Mauricio Pochettino eyed for different European job after Juventus snub

The Daily Star have claimed that Roma wish to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager after the Spurs boss failed to come to an agreement with Juventus.

Juve parted ways with Maurizio Sarri last week after they were eliminated from the Champions League at the round of 16 stage by Lyon.

Although there were suggestions that Pochettino was the Serie A champions’ main target (talkSPORT), they instead decided to give the job to former midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

The Daily Star report that the former Spurs boss priced himself of the job in Turin. It is claimed that the 48-year-old demanded a salary of around £8m a year, which put off Juventus.

The report asserts that Roma now want to bring in Pochettino to replace Paulo Fonseca after the Argentine coach’s move to Juve fell through.

It is suggested that Roma, who were recently bought by Texan billionaire Friedkin, are willing to pay big money to land the former Tottenham man.

Spurs Web Opinion

There seem to be a whole host of clubs vying for Pochettino’s signature ahead of next season. It looks certain that the Argentine will be in a job before the start of the next campaign. I suspect that the 48-year-old is waiting to see if Barcelona want him, with rumours suggesting that Quique Setien’s days at the club are numbered.
