Report: Mauricio Pochettino is keen on returning to Tottenham ‘soon’

90 min have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a return to Tottenham Hotspur and the Argentine believes that the job could soon be available.

Pochettino has been without work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and he has been mooted as a candidate for the Aston Villa job.

The Telegraph reported recently that the former Spurs manager is Villa’s number one target if they decide to part ways with Steven Gerrard over the coming days.

However, the report explained that the Midlands club ‘face a huge task’ to convince the former Spurs manager to take the job.

90 min have backed up Villa’s interest in Pochettino, revealing that the club’s hierarchy have even contacted the 50-year-old through intermediaries.

However, it is explained that, as things stand, the Argentine is not ‘hugely interested’ in taking over at Villa Park and would rather rejoin Spurs.

The publication asserts that the North London club remain keen on tying down Antonio Conte to a new contract.

I doubt if Pochettino would really want to wait for Spurs, given that Conte looks likely to sign a new contract. Having said that, I do expect the 50-year-old to wait for a bigger club than Villa to come calling.
