Report: Mauricio Pochettino plans to raid Spurs for 28-year-old

According to Foot Mercato, Mauricio Pochettino wants to reunite with Serge Aurier at Paris Saint-Germain.

Aurier started the season strongly for Spurs by keeping summer signing Matt Doherty out of the team for the majority of the Premier League fixtures.

However, much like the rest of the Tottenham side, the Ivorian’s form dipped a couple of months ago and there have since been rumours of a falling out with Jose Mourinho.

Reports indicate that Mourinho wants the 28-year-old to be sold in the summer transfer window since the Spurs boss considers the player ‘uncoachable’.

Foot Mercato claim that a return to PSG is on the cards for Aurier, with Pochettino already having spoken with the Spurs defender about his future.

It is claimed that Aurier has also maintained a good relationship with PSG president President Nasser Al-Khelaifi since leaving Parc des Princes in 2017.

The report suggests that Spurs would be willing to sell the right-back for around €12m (£10.3m) since he will be entering the final year of his contract with the club at the end of the season.

Aurier has previously admitted that he would like to return to PSG one day as he still feels he has unfinished business at the club he supported while growing up.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see Spurs being willing to move Aurier on in the summer given his contract situation. However, the Ivorian did not seem to have the best of relationships with Pochettino during the Argentine’s time at Spurs, with the former Tottenham boss picking Kieran Trippier over Aurier even when the England international was struggling for form.
