Report: Mauricio Pochettino willing to sanction the sale of first-team regular

England international Kieran Trippier could be on his way out of Tottenham Hotspur before the start of the new season.

The Mirror are reporting that Atletico Madrid are stepping up their interest in the right-back and are preparing a £25million offer.

Trippier has experienced a difficult twelve months having gone from one of the stars at England’s World Cup campaign in Russia which saw him score a stunning free-kick in the semi final defeat against Croatia to become somewhat of a scapegoat among Spurs fans.

The 27-year-old was guilty of making some high profile mistakes in a Spurs shirt last season which led to goals being conceded in important matches against Arsenal at Wembley, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Ajax in Amsterdam.

The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino is willing to part company with the former Burnley player who arrived in North London for £3.5million in 2015.

Atletico are said to be in the market for a new right-back following the departure of JuanFran this summer following the conclusion of his contract.

Trippier’s departure would see Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters left as the established right-backs, however Juan Foyth has shown that he is more than capable of filling the slot for both club and country.
