Report: Maurizio Sarri is now pushing for Lazio to sign Tottenham player

Corriere dello Sport have claimed that Maurizio Sarri is pushing Lazio to sign Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

If reports over recent days are to be believed, Lo Celso is now edging closer to a return to Villarreal on an initial loan deal with a potential option to buy (Cesar Luis Merlo).

Reports from Italy over recent days have also credited Fiorentina with an interest in the Argentine, with Sky Sport Italia claiming on Tuesday that the Serie A club were increasingly optimistic about snapping up the midfielder.

However, Viola director Daniele Prade has ruled out a move for the Tottenham man this summer (Tuttomercatoweb).

Corriere now claim that Lo Celso is now the subject of interest from another Italian club in Lazio.

The report claims Sarri is pushing for the former Real Betis man to be signed and explains that while the deal would not be impossible for the Serie A club, it would be ‘complicated’ to pull off due to their financial situation.

Lazio are now said to be contemplating whether or not to make a move for Lo Celso and the club could potentially make advances for the 26-year-old within the next two or three days.

If Lo Celso had been at the top of Sarri’s wish list, Lazio would likely have already made an offer for the Argentine. As things stand, Villarreal appear to be the overwhelming favourites to sign the midfielder despite assertions to the contrary by the Italian press.
