Report: Member of Tottenham staff resigns to join rivals Arsenal instead

Football.London have revealed that Chris Perkins, who recently resigned from the role of Tottenham’s emerging talent manager, is set to join Arsenal.

Perkins came to notoriety with his impressive work as the head of academy recruitment at Derby County before being snapped up by Everton in 2020.

Fabio Paratici and former Spurs technical performance director Steve Hitchen then brought him into the Lilywhites set-up just a year later to help identify the best young talent from the 17 to 21 age bracket to bring into the club’s academy.

Football.London explain that Perkins and his team of scouts were responsible for bringing several talented young players into the academy, including striker Will Lankshear.

It is revealed that he decided to leave Tottenham last month after the club’s structure continued to change around him, and he has now decided to join the Gunners after being sought after by several clubs.

The report adds that Spurs are yet to decide whether his role will be absorbed into their current structure after chief scout Leonardo Gabbanini brought his own staff into the club.

It appears like Perkins’ departure will not be too much of a blow for Tottenham, given the way the academy recruitment structure has been modified over the last six months, with the arrivals of the likes of Gabbanini and Andy Scoulding.
