Report: Memphis Depay directly addresses Tottenham rumours

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly already planning their January transfers ahead of the window reopening in the new year.

This comes after Spurs have struggled to maintain any kind of form this season, with just three wins from a possible 12 in the Premier League.

Spurs are way down in 14th position, on just 14 points, closer to the relegation zone than the top four, despite finishing in the Champions League spots last season.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier in the week that Tottenham were readying a big £50m bid for a new attacking threat in the winter window.

The Lilywhites are apparently keen on ex-Man United winger and current Lyon forward, Memphis Depay, after impressing during his time in France.

Depay was asked about the Premier League in general and the rumours that he could go to Spurs this week, but he shut down the latter immediately.

Memphis claimed he did not want to talk about rumours he knows nothing about.

He said (Voetbal Primeur): “I don’t want to talk about that. I don’t want to talk about rumours that I know nothing about.

“We leave it in the corridors. I am focused on a strong season so far.”

On the Premier League, he added: “It’s a very nice competition. It’s up to the club that is interested.

“I belong in a team that plays good football and can play around me, so that I can do my thing. I never rule it out.”
