Report mentions potential Arsenal swap deal for rumoured Spurs target

According to a report from Calciomercatoweb.it, Arsenal could swoop for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Weston McKennie during the January transfer window.

McKennie was linked with a move to Tottenham over the summer, with sources alleging that Fabio Paratici was keen on bringing the midfielder to North London.

The Spurs managing director allegedly even offered Tanguy Ndombele to Juventus in a potential swap deal for the USA international but the 23-year-old ended up staying put in Turin while the Frenchman remained at Tottenham.

The Lilywhites have been backed to reignite their interest in the Juve star when the transfer window reopens in January.

However, Calciomercatoweb.it have now suggested that Tottenham could be beaten to McKennie’s signature by their North London rivals.

The report explains that Massimiliano Allegri is keen to strengthen the Old Lady’s midfield ranks in January, with the Seri A giants having identified Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka, as a target.

It is alleged that Juve would be willing to offer McKennie to the Gunners in a swap deal for the Swiss international.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was not excited in the summer when we were being linked with a move for McKennie as I have my doubts over whether he would really improve our starting eleven.

While I do believe we need a central midfielder in January, we ideally need a Kessie/Bissouma/Neves type of signing, who would instantly improve us. So, I would not really mind seeing Arsenal snap up the American.
