Report: Micky van de Ven could suffer another injury blow this summer

Algemeen Dagblad have claimed that Micky van de Ven could be left out of the Netherlands squad for the European Championships due to his injury record.

The report examines how Ronald Koeman will be formulating the 23-man squad he is taking with him to Germany following the latest international break.

They say that at least 15 names are already certainties to be on the plane in the summer, with the remaining eight places now up for grabs.

Van de Ven’s injuries might scupper his chances

Algemeen Dagblad point out that normally, the Tottenham man would be certain to be part of the squad.

They say that Van de Ven would be an obvious choice since he is left-footed and plays at the top end of the Premier League. Furthermore, it is pointed out that his recovery pace might also come in handy, allowing Virgil van Dijk to be more aggressive.

However, the outlet points out that the problem with the former Wolfsburg man is that his hamstring problem has struck ‘again and again’, which is why he is not considered ‘reliable’ by Koeman.

It is alleged that the 22-year-old’s fitness record is something that the Netherlands boss will take into consideration while naming his final squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Van de Ven is fit, I do not see Koeman leaving him out of the squad, given the level that the Tottenham man has played at for much of this season.

One can argue that the Spurs star deserves to be in the starting eleven over Nathan Ake even though the Man City star has been a top performer for the Netherlands side for a while.
