Report: Midfielder completes Spurs medical ahead of transfer to North London

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now claimed that Wigan Athletic midfielder, Alfie Divine, is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur after completing a medical with the North London giants over the weekend.

Divine is considered one of the most highly-rated young midfield talents in the country, with the 15-year-old’s performances in the FA Youth Cup this season propelling him into the limelight.

The Daily Mail reported last week that the midfielder was one of several Wigan youngsters whom Spurs had their eye on, as they looked to take advantage of the Championship club’s precarious financial situation after they fell into administration.

Football Insider then reported that Spurs were close to completing a deal for the England Under-16 international after the Latics had accepted their £500,000 offer for the midfielder.

Ornstein has now claimed that the youngster was at Hotspur Way over the weekend to complete his medical and agree terms with Tottenham.

It is reported that Spurs saw off competition from the likes of Leeds United, Celtic, Rangers, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Chelsea, to land Divine.

Spurs Web Opinion

Divine seems to be extremely highly thought of, with reports indicating that several Premier League scouts had identified the midfielder as a target. So, if the reports of us winning the race for the teenager’s signature are true, then it could potentially be a real coup for us.
