Report: Midfielder could leave in January and Paratici remains an ‘admirer’

Tuttomercoweb have claimed that Tottenham target Weston McKennie could leave Juventus when the transfer window opens in January.

Multiple reports from Italy have revealed over recent weeks that Spurs hold a strong interest in McKennie and the Premier League club may look to raid the Serie A giants for the USA international (Calciomercato).

It has also been suggested recently that Juventus may be open to cashing in on the midfielder as they need to raise funds to make a move for Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul in January (Il Bianconero).

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs took to Twitter last week to reveal that McKennie will only make a decision on his future after the World Cup.

However, if TMW’s latest update is to be believed, the 24-year-old is one of a few players for whom an exit from the Allianz Stadium is on the cards in January.

The report explains that Fabio Paratici who was instrumental in bringing McKennie to Juventus and the Spurs managing director of football remains an ‘admirer’ of the former Schalke man.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing McKennie would make sense for Spurs in a lot of ways. Conte will likely want a more offensive-minded midfielder in January to give him more options when he uses a 3-5-2.

McKennie will be a good fit for Conte’s system, given his work rate and tactical discipline. In addition, Paratici has a relationship with the Juve hierarchy and the 24-year-old is not likely to be too expensive.
