Report: Midfielder expected to complete Spurs switch despite recent complications

The Telegraph report that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, despite Everton seeming complicating the picture by entering the fray for the midfielder’s signature.

There has been plenty of speculation over the last few days over Hojbjerg future with reports indicating that Tottenham have not yet matched Everton’s £25 million offer for the midfielder.

It has been claimed that the Toffees’ offer for the Denmark international has disrupted Daniel Levy’s plans of landing him on the cheap (Eurosport journalist, Calin Mates).

However, The Telegraph suggests that Tottenham remain confident of striking a deal with Southampton for Hojbjerg.

It is claimed that the 24-year-old has made it clear that his preference would be to join Spurs and a deal is thus likely to be agreed soon.

In fact, it is revealed that even Everton of aware of the former Bayern Munich man’s desire to join Tottenham and expect the Lilywhites to win the race for his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we had not loaned Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton in January, there is every reason to believe that the Saints would not be very sympathetic to us dragging our feet with respect to Hojbjerg. However, given how well Walker-Peters has played since the restart, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side cannot really afford to play hardball with us if they want to land the right-back permanently this summer.
