Report: Midfielder linked with Spurs expected to leave Serie A club this summer

Calcio Mercato have claimed that Marcelo Brozovic, who was previously linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, is set to leave Inter Milan before the transfer window shuts.

Brozovic, who has been a consistent performer at the heart of Inter’s and Croatia’s midfielder, was reportedly on the Lilywhites’ radar as far back as 2018 (Sportske Novosti via Bleacher Report).

The defensive midfielder was reportedly offered to the North Londoners two months ago as part of a swap deal to take Tanguy Ndombele to the San Siro (Corriere dello Sport via TBR Football) but that did not materialize.

However, Calcio Mercato claims that the Nerrazuri want to cash-in on Brozovic before the transfer window shuts.

The report reveals that Inter will take up the option of making Stefano Sensi’s loan move from Sassuolo permeant this summer, with Antonio Conte willing to sacrifice the Croat in exchange.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jose seems to be happy with his options in central midfield at the moment but we still lack a natural defensive midfielder since Dier was shifted to centre-back. Hojbjerg is very intelligent in reading the game and making interceptions but he is not a traditional DM while the defensive side of Winks’ game also leaves a lot to be desired. While I do not expect us to be in the market for a defensive midfielder like Brozovic this summer, that is likely to be one of our priority positions to address in January or next summer, with Moussa Sissoko’s days at the club likely being numbered.
