Report: Midfielder prefers to Spanish switch over Spurs and Liverpool

Foot Mercato have revealed that Sofyan Amrabat prefers to join Atletico Madrid over both Tottenham and Liverpool this month.

Amrabat was one of the best players on show at the World Cup in Qatar following his displays for Morocco and his future has predictably been the subject of a lot of speculation over the past few weeks.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed two weeks ago that Spurs were leading the race to snap up the Fiorentina star ahead of Liverpool.

However, Foot Mercato have now revealed that despite interest from the two aforementioned Premier League clubs, Amrabat’s preference is to join Atletico Madrid.

It is said that the 26-year-old is ‘very interested’ in moving to Spain and believes that Diego Simeone’s side ‘tick all the boxes’ as an ideal destination for him to continue his development.

However, the report explains that despite the player’s keenness to join Atletico, the biggest offers for him could come from England, with Fiorentina keen to get as much money for him as possible.

Foot Mercato add that despite selling Joao Felix to Chelsea, the Colchoneros do not have a very big budget for January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Most of the reports linking Amrabat with a move to Spurs have come from Italian outlets, with none of the journalists with well-placed sources inside the North London club suggesting that the move is likely. So, the 26-year-old will probably end up at Liverpool or Atletico if he leaves Fiorentina this month.
