RB Leipzig’s latest update on Dani Olmo comes as a blow to Tottenham, with the club revealing that the attacking midfielder has now agreed to a new contract.

Dani Olmo had just one year of his contract (Transfermarkt) and it had been reported by multiple sources over recent weeks that the Spain international’s future was up in the air.

One of the outlets to suggest that was Sky Germany, who claimed that the Bundesliga club were ready to make one final contract offer to the player and should he turn that down, he would be put up for sale for around €30m (£26.6m).

It was reported by SportBild (12/04/23 via Sport Witness) earlier this month that Tottenham had enquired about Olmo’s availability and were considering making an offer for him over the coming weeks.

However, it appears as if Spurs’ pursuit of the 25-year-old is now over, with Leipzig taking to social media to reveal that the attacker has signed a new deal at the Red Bull Arena until 2027.

The journalist added that Olmo’s new contract has a release clause of €60m (£51.6m).

This is a real shame as Olmo would have certainly improved our squad and would have cost much less than the likes of Maddison had he not signed a new deal.

Based on the reports over the last week or two, it does appear as if Spurs are expected to focus all their efforts on snapping up the Leicester star this summer.
