According to a report from Football Insider, Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes is set to have his medical on Monday 13th of January ahead of a move to Spurs.
The youngster is rated highly in his home country, having already made his senior debut for Portugal after putting in impressive displays for Benfica.
The report in Football Insider suggests that Mourinho decided to make the Portuguese youngster his first signing after the injury blow to Moussa Sissoko that has put him out of action for a considerable amount of time.
Football Insider reported last Thursday that West Ham had agreed on a deal in principle for Fernandes, but it appears that the Benfica man has chosen Spurs over the Hammers after the Lilywhites made a late play for his signature.
Spurs Web Opinion
I really like the look of Fernandes and believe he is destined for the top. I thus really hope that it is a loan deal which includes an option to buy. I do not believe that this is a reaction to the Sissoko injury as this is a signing for the long-term rather than the short term.
