Report: Midfielder Spurs are keen on has an Arsenal tattoo

It has emerged that Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who Tottenham are allegedly keen on signing, has a tattoo of their North London rivals, Arsenal.

Hjulmand turned a few heads with his impressive displays in Serie A last season and the midfielder has hit even greater heights since swapping Lecce for Sporting last summer.

The 24-year-old’s consistent performances in the middle of the park are one of the main reasons why Ruben Amorim’s men are sitting four points clear at the top of the Primeira Liga table with a game in hand.

Over the weekend, it was reported by the print edition of Record (as relayed by Sport Witness), that Tottenham are keen on signing a defensive midfielder to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp, and had set their sights on the Denmark international.

The report alleged that Spurs had sent scouts to Lisbon to watch him in action and that their interest in the player continues to intensify ahead of the summer.

Arsenal tattoo on a Tottenham target

Sport Witness have now done further digging on the matter and found out that Hjulmand grew up supporting Tottenham’s fierce rivals, Arsenal.

They reveal that the midfielder grew up idolising Patrick Vieira and has a tattoo of the Gunners crest on his left arm.

When asked about the tattoo, the Sporting star allegedly said: “My dad supported Arsenal and we watched games together when we were younger.”

I do not think Hjulmand supporting Arsenal as a kid would have much of a bearing on Tottenham’s interest or his keenness to move to Spurs. However, if the transfer should go through, perhaps the 24-year-old might have to get the tattoo removed.
