Report: Midfielder Spurs were allegedly ‘pressing strongly’ for is available for £16.8m

According to CalcioMercato, rumoured Tottenham target Antonin Barak is valued at €20m (£16.8m) by Hellas Verona ahead of the summer transfer window.

Verona snapped up Barak on a permanent deal last summer after the attacking midfielder impressed during his loan spell at the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium last season.

The 27-year-old has had an outstanding campaign so far, with 11 goals and four assists to his name in 28 Serie A appearances (Transfermarkt).

TuttoMercatoWeb reported last month that Barak was on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer, with the publication stating the North Londoners were ‘pressing strongly’ for the midfielder.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that Atalanta could enter the race for the Czech Republic international, with the midfielder said to be on the radar of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

The report claims that Barak, who has two years left on his contract with Verona, is valued at around €20m (£16.8m) by the Serie A club.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no question that we do need a number eight this summer in order to have a little flexibility. However, it very much seems like Conte is going to primarily continue using a 3-4-3 instead of implementing a 3-5-2. So, I would be surprised if we spend big on an attacking midfielder this summer.
