Report: Midfielder to tell Spurs he wants to leave before transfer deadline

Victor Wanyama is open to a move away from Tottenham Hotspur according to reports.

Football Insider claim that the midfielder is wanted by Bournemouth and he is ready to tell Spurs that he is keen on a return to the south coast.

Wanyama moved to White Hart Lane in 2016 when he signed a five-year deal following his £11million transfer from Southampton (BBC).

The Kenyan has not played a minute of pre season football for Spurs ahead of the new campaign after he was forced to miss the Audi Cup matches earlier this week following a knee issue (Spurs official).

The prospect of playing regularly for Eddie Howe’s side if he can remain fit is certainly a better option for the former Celtic man than being a fringe player in North London.

Opinion

A move for the 28-year-old would see his chances of regular first team football increase significantly.

Competition for places in the Spurs midfield is expected to be intense this season with Eric Dier, Oliver Skipp, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and record signing all competing to be named in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven.
