Report: Midfielder wanted by Spurs could be available for €25m

Tottenham are said to be among the clubs vying to sign Spanish midfielder Marc Cucurella in the summer, according to reports from Spain.

The Barcelona player is currently enjoying an impressive season on loan at Getafe as they currently sit fifth in La Liga, just a point off the Champions League qualification spots.

The 21-year-old, who can play both as a left-back as well as on the left-hand side of midfield, has reportedly caught the eye of several big hitters from across Europe with his performances this campaign.

Cucurella has made 32 appearances for Getafe in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing five assists (transfermarkt).

Spanish radio station Cope (as relayed by transfermarkt) reports that Tottenham will face competition from the likes of Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach for Cucurella’s signature in the summer.

It is revealed that Getafe can sign the youngster permanently for €6million at the end of the season and that the player would have a €25 million release clause inserted in his contract following a switch to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that we are being linked with so many defenders in the last few weeks as I expect Jose to rebuild the backline in the summer. However, Cucurella seems to have a very similar profile to Sessegnon and so signing him might slow down the 19-year-old’s development.
