Report: Midfielder wanted by Spurs does not wish to leave club

According to a report from BILD, rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Christopher Nkunku, is likely to stay put at RB Leipzig past this summer.

Nkunku has gone from strength to strength since joining Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago. The midfielder has become a key player for Julian Naglesmann’s side, having scored seven goals and provided eight assists in all competitions this campaign.

Foot Mercato previously claimed that Tottenham were set to compete with Arsenal and Manchester United for the 23-year-old this summer.

BILD now name Arsenal as the main contenders for Nkunku’s signature, revealing that Mikel Arteta has been convinced by the midfielder. The Gunners are said to be preparing an offer of around €31m (£26.6m) for the former PSG man.

However, the report goes on to reveal that the France Under-21 international is happy at Leipzig and is not looking to leave the club this summer.

It is also claimed that a move to Arsenal would not appeal to Nkunku since Arteta’s men are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification.
