Report: Midfielder wanted by Spurs ‘dreaming’ of Premier League move

In what seems like a boost to Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing Geoffrey Kondogbia, Foot Mercato reports that the Valencia star is keen to complete a move to the Premier League this summer.

Spurs are reportedly in the market for a defensive midfielder when the transfer window opens in the summer, with Southampton’s Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg reported to be the club’s main target (Football Insider).

However, Kondogbia is another player to be linked with the North Londoners, with Sky Sports reporting that the Lilywhites could rekindle their interest in the midfielder, who has been on their radar since 2017.

Cadena COPE reported last week that the 27-year-old is one of seven first-team stars that have been informed by Valencia that they are free to leave this summer.

Foot Mercato now reiterates the Central African Republic international is likely to be on his way out of the Mestalla this summer, with the Premier League said to be his most likely destination.

It is claimed that Tottenham and Manchester United have both expressed an interest in signing the midfielder, with Kondogbia said to be dreaming of a move to England.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am personally not as convinced as some Spurs fans seem to be that Hojbjerg will the answer to our problems in midfield. I would certainly prefer a move for Kondogbia over the Saints star as I believe the Valencia man would not take too long to adapt to the Premier League. The only reason why it would make sense for Tottenham to go for Hojbjerg over Kondogbia is if the Southampton star costs considerably less.
