Report: Midfielder linked with Spurs has begun talks over a new contract

Kicker have reported that rumoured Tottenham target Mahmoud Dahoud is in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a new contract.

With reports indicating that Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks could both be on their way out of the Tottenham this summer, the North London club could be on the lookout for reinforcements in the central midfield department.

Spurs have been linked with moves for the likes of Franck Kessie, Manuel Locatelli and Yves Bissouma over recent weeks.

Dahoud was another name who was previously said to be on Tottenham’s radar, with The Daily Mail reporting back in March that the Lilywhites were one of the clubs eyeing the 25-year-old, who just has 12 months left to run on his contract at Signal Iduna Park.

However, Kicker have revealed that there is willingness from Dahoud’s camp, as well as Dortmund, to agree on a new deal.

The player’s representatives are said to have held initial talks with the club about a new contract over the last few weeks.

The report adds that an agreement is not certain to be reached at this point, with the meeting between the parties this week likely to bring more clarity.

Spurs Web Opinion

Assuming both Sissoko and Winks are sold this summer, that could still leave Nuno with Hojbjerg, Lo Celso and Skipp (potentially Ndombele too) competing for two positions. So, I do not expect us to sign more than one central midfielder this summer unless the club decide to loan Skipp out again.
