Report: Midfielder wanted by Spurs is desperate to return to the PL

Philippe Coutinho is desperate to make a return to England this summer, amidst interest from a number of Premier League sides including Tottenham, according to a report by The Mirror.

Coutinho, who is currently on a season-long loan at Bayern Munich is reportedly in the shop window this summer (Express) after the Bundesliga side decided not to take up the option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Coutinho was linked heavily with a move to Spurs last summer before he made the move to Bayern (Mirror).

The Brazilian reportedly agreed to sign for Tottenham last summer before the agreement between the North Londoners and the Catalans is said to have collapsed (Sport via Sport Witness).

The Mirror now report that the 27-year-old regrets leaving Liverpool to join Barcelona two years ago and his prime objective is to return to the Premier League ahead of next season.

The report claims that Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in giving Coutinho a route back to English football.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was desperate for us to sign Coutinho last summer but I am not particularly sure the deal will make sense for us now given the options we have in attacking midfield. The Brazilian would be a luxury signing for us as other positions including full-back, centre back, defensive midfield and striker must be prioritised in the summer.
