Report: Midfielder who left Spurs in 2021 may be set for possible PL return

Fanatik have claimed that former Tottenham midfielder Gedson Fernandes could be in line for a return to the Premier League in the summer.

Fernandes joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica in January 2020, with the midfielder being Jose Mourinho’s first signing at the North London club.

However, the Portuguese international struggled to get minutes in N17 and his loan was eventually cut short as he returned to his parent club in February of 2021 before being loaned out to Turkey.

The 24-year-old had temporary spells at both Galatasaray and Caykur Rizespor before eventually joining Besiktas last summer in a deal worth £5.2m

Gedson has impressed at the Vodafone Stadium this season, having registered four assists in 23 league appearances for the Istanbul-based club.

Fanatik have now revealed that the midfielder’s displays in Turkey have attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs ahead of the summer.

The report states that Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that have been watching the former Spurs man closely this season.

Gedson’s time at Tottenham was certainly not a fair reflection of his ability as a player as the midfielder was quite young and inexperienced when he arrived at the club and hardly got any opportunities in the 12 months that he spent here.
