Report: Midfielder who quit Spurs this summer undergoes medical in Germany

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Elliot Thorpe has undergone a medical with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim, according to Football Insider.

Thorpe left Spurs last month following the expiration of his contract and snubbed the opportunity of a new deal after seeking a move to a club where he believed he could have the chance of playing regular first-team football.

The 20-year-old failed to make a senior appearance for Spurs, but was highly regarded by former head coach Jose Mourinho and was regularly training with the first team.

The Welsh Under-21 international has been on the radar of Hoffenheim for the past year, while Brentford and Leicester City were also said to be keen on securing his services.

Thorpe is yet to agree personal terms with the German side, which is expected to be a mere formality ahead of making the switch.
