Tottenham have been linked with Gallagher for the last three transfer windows now, with Ange Postecoglou keen to upgrade his midfield options.

The England international is entering the final year of his current contract, and with no sign of a new deal coming from Chelsea, Spurs are thought to be in the driving seat when it comes to a possible transfer (Football Insider).

Chelsea are under pressure to comply with profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) this summer, and are looking at a number of academy players that could be sold in order to bring in pure profit and balance the books.

With this in mind, the London club are thought to be trying to sell players before the June 30 deadline in order to register profits on this year’s figure sheets, thus allowing new boss Enzo Maresca the freedom to make new signings in the summer.

Conor Gallagher doesn’t want to leave Chelsea

Gallagher is one such player, but the latest report from The Sun suggests the midfielder is reluctant to leave his boyhood club.

The report states “Conor Gallagher has drawn interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham though he would rather stay at Stamford Bridge.”

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for Chelsea this season, registering seven goals and nine assists in 50 appearances (Transfermarkt) while also standing in as captain for much of the campaign.

Spurs Web Opinion

Of all the players Chelsea want (or need) to sell, I just cannot see Gallagher moving on. He clearly doesn’t want to go, and he’s the best homegrown player they’ve got. I think they will find a way to keep him, and will end up giving him a new contract before the end of the summer.
