Report: Midfielder Zidane dubbed ‘outstanding’ not interested in Spurs move

Maxime Lopez has insisted that he wants to sign a new contract at Marseille amid interest from Tottenham and West Ham, according to Le10 Sport.

Lopez was dubbed by Zinedine Zidane as ‘outstanding’ in an interview with Goal, however, it may not be up to the talented 22-year-old as to where his future lies.

Marseille are believed to be under pressure to avoid Financial Fair Play discipline by raising a reported £100m in player sales. Lopez only has just 12 months left on his current contract at Marseille.

Spurs were linked with the Frenchman in April with Jose Mourinho reportedly interested in what he felt was the ‘ideal number six’ midfielder for Spurs (Daily Star).

However, it is believed that Lopez does not want to move away from Marseille and is insistent on extending his stay in the south of France.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems as if Lopez really does not want a move away. I think that is normally a sign to move on from that particular transfer target as even if he is forced into moving – it is unlikely the player will be overly happy about joining a new club.
