Report: Midfielder’s agent travels to England to ‘hear proposals’ from Spurs and two other clubs

Reports over the last few weeks have indicated that Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United are locked in a three-horse race for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes (The Sun).

The Red Devils are thought to be leading the race for his signature after Ole Gunnar Solksjaer reportedly identified the 24-year-old as one of his top targets (Evening Standard).

A report in A Bola suggests that ‘top executives’ of the company representing Fernandes will meet with Spurs, Liverpool and United to hear out their proposals in the coming days.

The Portuguese international, who was in sensational form last season scoring 31 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions, has already told Sport Mediaset earlier this summer that he is open to a move away from Sporting.

However, it is unclear if Fernades is Tottenham’s primary target, with several reports suggesting that Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso is the man Pochettino wishes to replace Christian Eriksen with should the Dane complete his move to Real Madrid (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion

While Fernandes has had a sensational couple of seasons for Sporting, the gulf in quality between the Portuguese top flight and the Premier League is huge. We at Spurs Web believe Lo Celso would be a much more valuable addition to the squad than Fernandes.
