Report reveals how Harry Winks could be at risk of picking up a two-game ban

Tottenham look set to be back in action in little over two weeks time as the Premier League season is set to restart on June 17.

However, the Lilywhites will not be able to ease into proceedings as they have a huge clash against Manchester United for their first game back.

With United sitting five points and three places above Spurs in the table, the result could be crucial in determining both sides’ chances of a top-four finish.

Jose Mourinho will be glad to have a fully fit squad to work with, however, the Spurs boss is set to have some selection dilemmas, especially in midfield.

With Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Giovani Lo Celso, Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele all fit (along with Gedson and Skipp), it will be interesting to see who the Spurs boss picks.

However, he may have one other variable to consider as Football.London have revealed that Harry Winks is walking a disciplinary tight-rope at the moment.

They explain that any player who accumulates ten bookings before game week 23 will have to serve a two-match ban. Winks has been booked eight times so far this season which means that he risks a suspension if he picks up two more cautions in the next three games.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see if Mourinho picks Winks against Manchester United knowing that a booking might leave him one away from suspension for the next two games.

Winks has been regularly used under Mourinho since the Special One arrived in North London back in November 2019.

Spurs Web Opinion

Being without Winks could be a problem for us as the other midfielders are not comfortable playing as deep as the England international and shielding the back four. So, if Winks is suspended, I believe Jose might be forced to start Dier in midfield again, although I would personally like to see Skipp playing that role.
