Report: Mourinho and staff rejected seven-figure pay-off from Levy

Football Insider have reported that former Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho and his staff rejected an £8m severance package from Daniel Levy after being sacked.

Spurs took the decision earlier this week to part ways with Mourinho after 17 months in charge and hand the interim head coach role to former player, Ryan Mason.

It is reported that Tottenham didn’t want Mourinho and his staff to simply leave the club and continue claiming their wages until their contracts run down or they find new jobs.

Therefore, Levy offered the five men an £8m deal which was immediately rejected by Mourinho and co. The staff members included Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra, as well as the Special One himself.

This means that the five former Spurs coaches are all now on gardening leave and can claim their Spurs wages until they secure a new job, with their Tottenham contracts running until 2023.
