Report: Mourinho appreciates this player who is working hard to ‘fit in’ to Spurs system

According to a report by Football.London, Jose Mourinho is appreciative of the hard work that Tanguy Ndombele is putting in to meet the demands of the new Spurs system.

The midfielder was one of Tottenham’s best players in the 2-0 win over Manchester City in North London on Saturday.

He was not only a threat on the ball, as seen with his lovely turn and pass over the top for Son Heung-min to score the opener, but he also put in a shift off the ball, helping Spurs to win back possession high up the pitch on multiple occasions.

Mourinho admitted after the game that Ndombele had a difficult job on his hands and he had to replace the Frenchman just past the hour mark as he was exhausted (beIN SPORTS).

Football.London reveal that although the Tottenham boss recognises the former Lyon man’s quality, the midfielder does not fit into any particular box due to his maverick style of play.

Mourinho is said to be pleased with the 23-year-old as he is working hard to fit into the variation of 4-3-3 that Spurs are currently deploying.

On the evidence of recent matches, Ndombele certainly appears to have become a vital cog in Tottenham’s midfield.
