Report: Mourinho buys Reguilon £500 ham after left-back won Man City bet

According to Spanish newspaper ABC (as relayed by ESPN), Jose Mourinho bought Sergio Reguilon a £500 ham after the left-back stopped Riyad Mahrez from dribbling past him in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win over Manchester City.

Reguilon could not show much of his attacking qualities in the clash against City on Saturday as the away side dominated the ball.

The Spanish left-back put in a disciplined and resolute display as he helped his side keep a clean sheet.

Mourinho took to Instagram on Tuesday to post a picture of him and Reguilon enjoying a piece of ham at Hotspur Way, along with the caption: “A promise is a promise. It cost me £500 but I keep my promises.”

ABC have now revealed that the promise the Tottenham boss made to the 23-year-old was to buy him the best leg of ham available on the market if he could stop Mahrez dribbling past him during the match.

After Reguilon’s impressive display, Mourinho reportedly got him the leg of ‘Jamon Iberico’, which is priced at £500.
