Report: Mourinho ‘charm offensive’ set to spark new contract U-turn

A report from Football Insider claims that a Jose Mourinho charm offensive may have now sparked a new contract U-turn in North London.

This comes as young central defender, Japhet Tanganga, is set to agree a new contract with Tottenham in the near future.

Spurs and Tanganga have been in talks for months now, as the 20-year-old sees his current contract run out in the next six months.

Back in November, Football Insider reported that Tanganga had rejected a new contract offer from the North London club, but it looks as if he has now reconsidered.

Mourinho has apparently had an influence in this by making it clear how highly he rates the defender, including him in the majority of recent matchday squads.

The report adds that Tanganga may then go out on loan after signing a new deal, most likely to a club in the Championship, as long as Spurs are not short on defenders.
