Report: Mourinho connection puts Spurs in pole position for Ligue 1 striker

The speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Victor Osimhen has intensified considerably in the last week or so.

French publication Jeunes Footeux reported a few days ago that Mourinho was keen on landing Osimhen as he views the youngster as a perfect understudy to Harry Kane.

Sky Sports have now reported that Spurs are top of the queue for the Nigerian international’s signature in January with Liverpool and Chelsea also showing interest in him.

The report in Sky Sports, as well as another one from TEAMtalk, claim that Spurs are in pole position to land Osimhen next month due to Mourinho’s warm relationship with Lille’s sporting director Luis Campos.

The 19-year-old forward was hospitalized last Tuesday after suffering a health scare during Lille’s win against Monaco. He was withdrawn in the 23rd minuted after complaining of dizziness but he has since then successfully passed multiple cardiothoracic tests and has been discharged (L’Equipe).

Spurs Web Opinion

While Osimhen’s goalscoring record in his debut season in Ligue 1 is pretty impressive, I believe signing another young talent like him could hurt Troy Parrott’s development. I would rather the club bought in an experienced centre forward who can give us a more direct option in some games .
