Report: Mourinho convinced that 23-year-old can become ‘a world-class asset’

Football.London claim that Jose Mourinho still believes that Tanguy Ndombele can come good at Tottenham Hotspur, amid reports that the midfielder could be on his way out of the club.

Many Spurs fans would have been hoping they would get to see the best of Ndombele after the restart but the midfielder has barely featured, with the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks all being preferred by Mourinho.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan recently after a disappointing first season at Tottenham (Guardian).

Football.London claim that while there is serious interest in Ndombele from the Serie A giants, Spurs do not have any intention of allowing him to depart North London.

It is claimed that Daniel Levy does not want to take a financial hit on the club’s record signing, while Mourinho is said to be convinced the 23-year-old will become ‘a world-class asset’ for the side.

The report suggests that the Portuguese coach believes that the former Lyon man just needs time to settle into a new country and style of football.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that the information which is being fed to journalists (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, PA Sport’s Jonathan Veal etc) is that Ndombele is not for sale. However, I would be extremely surprised if the club are not considering offers for the Frenchman this summer.

It does not look as if Ndombele is going to get much game next season and his value is only likely to drop even further if he spends another season on the bench. Since we are reportedly short of transfer funds this summer, I expect us to sell Ndombele if we receive an offer of around £45m-£50m for him.
