According to Calcio Mercato, Jose Mourinho’s Roma could beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of Andrea Belotti this summer.
Belotti has been one of the most prolific strikers in Serie A for the last six years and has enjoyed another excellent season for a struggling Torino side.
Reports from Italy have backed the North Londoners to make another attempt to sign the experienced striker this summer, with Spurs said to be at the front of the queue for his signature (La Stampa via TuttoMercatoWeb).
CalcioMercato have now claimed that Torino would be willing to accept around €25m (£21.7m) for Belotti this summer, with the striker having just 12 months left to run on his contract.
However, it is said that Mourinho’s arrival at the Stadio Olympico might give Roma the edge in the race for the Italian international’s signature.
Spurs Web Opinion
As always, the main hindrance in attracting a striker of Belotti’s quality to Spurs is the presence of Harry Kane. Not many forwards would be willing to come to the club knowing they are going to play second fiddle to the 27-year-old.
I expect us to take another punt on a Vinicius, Llorente or Janssen type of striker this summer rather than sign someone of Belotti’s or Ings’ quality.
