Report: Mourinho desperate to keep hold of midfielder

A report by Mundo Deportivo has rubbished suggestions that Jose Mourinho and Tanguy Ndomele do not see eye to eye.

Ndombele has not managed a single minute of football since the restart of the Premier League campaign and there have been suggestions that the midfielder has told the Spurs boss that he is not willing to play for him again.

Mourinho is reportedly not happy with the midfielder’s efforts in the training field (The Athletic) and Spurs are said to be negotiating the Frenchman’s sale to Barcelona (L’Equipe).

However, Mundo Deportivo suggests that the Spurs boss is desperate to keep the 23-year-old in North London.

It is alleged that the 57-year-old rates the club record signing highly and has no intention of watching him depart the North London outfit.

The report suggests that Mourinho has no interest in Barca’s proposal of swapping Philippe Coutinho for Ndombele as he rates the French international as the bigger talent.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Ndombele to get some game time in the coming weeks with games coming thick and fast for us. Hopefully, he can make the case to Jose on why he deserves to start. If the Frenchman can also find his feet like Lo Celso did, then suddenly our squad looks quite formidable.
